As of 2017, Adobe officially retired the activation servers for Creative Suite 3 (CS3). This means that even if you have a valid original serial number, the software will often fail to "phone home" to verify it, resulting in activation errors. How to Get a Working Serial Number

If you previously purchased CS3, you cannot use your original discs to reinstall the software because they require the defunct activation servers. Instead, Adobe provided a special version of CS3 that does not require activation.

: Go to the Adobe ID portal and sign in with the account used for the original purchase.
