Yugi decides to save Joey by using the trap card Mystical Refpanel to redirect the damage from "Meteor of Destruction" to himself, bringing his Life Points to zero.
Witnessing Yugi’s sacrifice, Joey finally shatters Marik’s mental control. He uses the second effect of "Meteor of Destruction" to force his Red-Eyes Black Dragon to attack himself, also reducing his Life Points to zero to ensure Yugi's safety.
This episode concludes the high-stakes "Anchor Duel" between Yugi and a mind-controlled Joey Wheeler, orchestrated by Marik Ishtar.
