Based on Richard Matheson’s 1975 novel Bid Time Return , the story follows Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve), a playwright who becomes obsessed with a vintage portrait of actress Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour). Unlike the high-tech machinery of later sci-fi, Richard uses and the power of will to transport himself back to 1912.
