The two become inseparable, eventually training under the centaur Chiron on Mount Pelion, where their friendship turns to romance.
When Helen of Sparta is abducted, Achilles is called to fulfill a prophecy of becoming the greatest of all Greeks. Patroclus follows him to Troy, where they face ten years of brutal warfare.
Devastated, Achilles kills Hector and eventually meets his own fated end. The story concludes with their shades finally reuniting in the afterlife after Achilles' mother, Thetis , inscribes Patroclus’s name on their shared tomb. Key Characters
